The mystery started in the spring of 1946 with a letter. Someone “drops a dime” on bootleggers, and one of the smugglers is Frank’s brother, Jack. But that’s the least of Mickey Mathews’ worries. Jack’s wife has been murdered, and soon after, Jack disappears. Before additional people vanish, Mickey and Frank must find the smugglers and jump headlong into their most dangerous case yet.

A Must Read!

I recently finished reading Brotherly Love. I loved the story and twists and turns. This is my first book written by Jim and I have gotten the rest of his books and anxious to read them. Jim is a great mystery writer and I highly recommend you read his books. Thanks Jim.

Mystery Delight

Brotherly Love brings crime sleuth partners Mickey and Frank back to Michigan in Jim Sargent's mystery. The time and place are unique to mystery fans. I live all of Sargent's mysteries, and each develops our favorite characters more. If you read and love this one, be sure to check out his earlier books, as well.

Mickey and Frank are the Best

Jim Sargent has a way of putting the reader at wherever the action is. His expertise in knowing the how his characters must make the mystery work. I have read other of his books and he makes me feel like I want to be along with Mickey Mathews wherever he goes. I wait anxiously for his next mystery. Reading his fiction books is great reading for this 80 year old man. Thank you so much Jim for entertaining my life.

The Adventure Continues

Jim Sargent has penned another fine thriller starring Mickey Matthews and his friend and partner, Frank Tuttle. Set in the spring of 1946, this adventure follows the two as they help authorities take down a ring of liquor smugglers operating between Michigan and Canada. The story takes a personal turn for Frank when it appears that his estranged brother, Jack, is a part of the smuggling operation. A real page-turner, this most recent tale of the crime-fighting duo is a fun read, most especially for those who enjoy historical mysteries with a strong evocation of place and time. Highly recommended.

Two Very Different Brothers

As a Michigan native, I was thrilled to find Mickey and his partner, Frank, back in our home state for this exciting adventure, which takes place in numerous familiar locations as well as across the Blue Water Bridge in Canada. However, no matter where you live, you will find it easy to follow, but not to predict, the twists and turns of the multifaceted plot while feeling like you are right there as part of the action. Sargent always presents many interesting interpersonal relationships. That is truer than ever this time and he leaves the reader eager to learn how a very special relationship evolves in the next adventure. But don't worry, this latest mystery is completely solved by the end of the book.
